How to configure the Announcements forum to work with groups

By default, communications made through any forum are visible to everyone in the classroom.

If you have different groups in the classroom and need to broadcast a message to a specific group, you can do so. NOTE: Only this group will receive the email notification, and only this group will see it posted in the classroom.

To do this, you’ll first need to configure the forum as follows:

  • Go to the forum in question.
  • Click on Settings to configure it.
  • Expand the Common Module Parameters section and choose Separate groups or Visible groups under Group mode.

  • Click Save and return to course to save the settings.

Once configured, you’ll be able to work with groups and send a notification to a specific group.
